Supporting you with personal care can make a world of difference to how you feel about yourself. From being clean and comfortable to dressing in your favourite clothes for comfort or to look smart for that special occasion with a freshly ironed shirt and polished shoes, we can help you with that. We can also accompany you on visits to your hairdresser, nail bar or barber shop.
Avelo Care can provide assistance with all areas of personal care, your care plan will be tailored to you as an individual to meet your needs and can include support with;
Bathing & Showering
Support with daily washing routines such as bathing, showering, or sponge bathing for individuals who have difficulty performing these tasks independently.
Tailored to the individual’s needs, preferences, and level of mobility.
Aims to maintain cleanliness and prevent skin infections, while promoting comfort and dignity
Use of adaptive equipment, such as grab bars, non-slip mats, and shower chairs, to enhance safety.
Privacy & Dignity
Ensuring that clients are comfortable and their privacy is respected at all times during the washing process.
Support for those who require full assistance or partial help, depending on their abilities and preferences.
Care staff are trained to assist clients in a manner that reduces the risk of slips, falls, or other accidents during the washing process.
Getting Dressed
Care staff can offer gentle assistance or simply be there to provide support when needed, allowing clients to retain a sense of autonomy while ensuring they’re dressed appropriately for the day. Clients are supported in choosing their own clothes to foster a sense of identity and self-expression.
Dressing is often part of a larger routine that includes personal hygiene. Care staff ensure that clients are comfortable, well-groomed, and that skin is protected. This includes helping with tasks like applying lotion, managing incontinence products, or ensuring proper clothing choices that allow for skin health.
Continence Care & Toileting
Effective toileting assistance ensures the individual’s hygiene, comfort, and well-being, while promoting their independence as much as possible.
Assistance with maintaining personal hygiene, including cleaning after using the toilet, changing incontinence pads, and washing hands.
Introduction of mobility aids, commodes, or other assistive devices to facilitate ease and safety during toileting.
From Head to Toe
Our care team can assist with head to toe care from brushing hair, shaving, or applying make up all the way down to creaming legs and providing foot care to promote good foot health. Your care plan can be built with many smaller tasks such as nail care, putting in hearing aids, hair washing or cleaning glasses to get you ready for the day ahead.
Our team can also assist with oral care. Healthy teeth and gums can positively impact a patient’s ability to eat, speak, and socialize, which can improve mental and emotional health.
Skincare
Special attention is given to skin health, especially for clients with sensitive skin, conditions like eczema, or those at risk of pressure sores.
Use of gentle soaps, moisturizers, and other skin care products as needed.
We can also assist with more specialist personal care requirements, for example Moving Position in Bed
Prevents Pressure Ulcers: Regular repositioning reduces the risk of bedsores, which are common among people who are confined to bed or have limited mobility.
Enhances Comfort: Adjusting the position in bed can help relieve pain, reduce muscle stiffness, and improve circulation.
Promotes Better Health Outcomes: Properly changing positions can help reduce the risk of respiratory and digestive issues and improve overall comfort.
